Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Goncharenko says that Russia stands behind Serbia regarding the tensions caused in northern Kosovo.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Oleksiy Goncharenko said that the same scenario, which was used by Putin for the invasion of Ukraine, was used in Kosovo, under the false pretenses that the goal is ‘denazification’.

“I am sure of this and I say it openly. The exact repetition of Putin’s scenario, where it’s precisely the MPs of Serbia that are starting to say that we are aiming for the denazification of the Balkans, is the same scenario as with us, that is, for the denazification of Ukraine, and denazification means the killing of Ukrainians and it means genocide.

I know because the Russians are behind this and unfortunately Serbia wants to be part of Europe and at the same time they say they are friends of Russia and we don’t know how this will be done”, he said.

Earlier today, Goncharenko declared through a post on social media that if Serbia invades Kosovo, Ukraine will intervene in its defense.

On July 31, Serbs in Kosovo set up barricades on the roads leading to Jarinje and Bernjak, due to the government’s decision on introducing Serbian license plates and documents for Serbs traveling to Kosovo.

The Government of Kosovo said that it will postpone the implementation of the decisions on the issuance of entry-exit documents for citizens of Serbia entering Kosovo and the one on the change of Serbian license plates upon entry when the blockades are lifted.

All blockades in the north were lifted this afternoon.
