The United States has shown its support for the justice reform through a statement earlier today, which emphasized that the reform’s main goal should be to “put an end to impunity and hold corrupt politicians accountable”.
This statement was posted on social media earlier today by the US embassy in Tirana, along with a 2021 report on the human rights progress in our country during the year we left behind.
While making a reference to this report, the embassy also noted that human rights should continue to be a significant focal point in our country and that they should include the necessity for an independent and free judicial.
“The United States of America is committed to placing democracy and human rights at the center of our foreign policy. As noted in the report, human rights must include an independent judiciary, free from political pressure, intimidation & corruption. We strongly support the justice reform to end impunity, hold accountable corrupt officials & organized crime and strengthen rule of law in Albania,” read the embassy’s statement.
