European Commission president Ursula Von der Leyen made her remarks at the Macedonian Parliament ahead of the vote for the French proposal by Macedonian MPs.

Von der Leyen stated that by voting on this proposal, the European Union will be able to open negotiations for North Macedonia next week.

“Now, we all have to look forward, to seize the opportunity that stands before us. Let’s start accession negotiations and work together on the road toward the European Union. We can do this starting next week, by undertaking this first step through the French proposal.

You are all well aware of what this proposal is. It protects your interests and addresses disagreements between all parties. We are convinced that this has historical importance. The choice is yours,” – said Von der Leyen.
