Greece is not changing its position and will not recognize Kosovo’s independence.
This is what the ambassador of Greece in Belgrade, Giorgos Giakofotakis, said to the Serbian media, Tanjug.
“During his last visit to Belgrade on June 3, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias reiterated that Greece’s position remains unchanged and that it has no intention of recognizing Kosovo’s independence,” the ambassador said.
Greece, together with Spain, Slovakia, Cyprus, and Romania are the five member countries of the European Union that have not yet recognized Kosovo’s independence.
On July 31, tensions were caused in the north of Kosovo due to the decision to implement the reciprocity of license plates and identity cards for the Serbs of the north.
The latter blocked the roads in protest using heavy tonnage vehicles. Reciprocity has been postponed until September 1.
