Who do Albanians blame for the violent assault on DP’s headquarters?

Albanians, who identify as Democrats made Sali Berisha (41%) responsible for the violent assault on DP’s main headquarters that took place on January 8 – as opposed to 37%, who blamed Basha.

Amongst Socialist voters, only 4.9% hold Basha responsible, whereas 47% thought Berisha was to blame for the violence that erupted at DP’s headquarters during Berisha’s protest to ‘take back the Democratic Party’.

When we look at the overall results of the Barometer poll, which include answers from all types of voters, the majority (43%) held both Basha and Berisha responsible.

Overall, citizens condemned the use of physical violence against people or institutions as a means to achieve political goals.

Over 90% of Albanians condemned the use of violence as a means to resolve disputes, even if placed under extreme circumstances.

Results were retrieved from a poll conducted by MRB and Data Centrum, from January 13-24, 2022, which included 1.000 in-person conversations on a national scale.
