Ajas Sulejmani, 39 was the driver who hit a young couple crossing the road with their 3-month-old baby.

This wasn’t the first time that Sulejmani had become part of an incident registered by law enforcement.

Euronews Albania’s journalist Eni Ferhati reported that 3 weeks ago, the same luxury vehicle had been confiscated by traffic police after suspicions that it was stolen, but after running checks officers had concluded that it wasn’t in fact stolen and returned it back to the owner.

Over the past few months, Sulejmani has been stopped and fined at least 8 times by traffic police.

Reasons included speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, or wrongful parking.

According to official records, his driver’s license hadn’t been suspended.

Official sources confirmed that recent news that had been circulating in the press about the 39-year-old being an international fugitive was debunked but he had been investigated on drug trafficking charges.

Sulejmani is expected to appear before the court tomorrow, during which he will face charges of irregular driving, as a result of substance abuse, precisely cannabis Sativa.

Based on the law, Ajazi could face 5-10 years in prison.
