Socialist MP, Blerina Gjylameti declared during tonight’s RinON that there are definite issues with the current quality of our universities.

“It is true that there is a myriad of problems when it comes to comparing the syllabuses with what is actually offered in the job market, which is why we have been intervening since 2014, with the Law on Higher Education, which was especially focused on shutting down all those universities that had been popping up during the previous administration, whose value was simply printing out of a piece of paper [for a diploma],” – said Gjylameti.

On the other hand, Democratic MP, Ina Zhupa emphasized that bad governance is what is pushing students away. She brought to the attention the opposition’s plan of ‘retrieving our brain power’ by offering Albanians living abroad, job contracts that pay them the same amounts they get where they live, including tax cuts for at least the first 5 years upon their return. According to Zhupa, 97% of young Albanians leave as economic asylum seekers.
