5 state police officers and 3 municipal police officers were injured during their clash with protestors at the 5 Maji neighborhood in Tirana.
The police have announced that officers were hurt after being hit with heavy objects and combustible materials and are now receiving treatment at the Trauma Hospital in Tirana.
Tirana’s DP has escorted dozens of citizens to the police station.

This morning, 5 Maji residents stages a protest over the state-ordered project that plans to demolish around 400 homes in the 5 Maji neighborhood.
During the clash, police officers were forced to use teargas in order to disperse the protesters, at which point one of the 5 Maji residents fainted from the heavy fumes.
5 Maji residents have been protesting for over a month now, asking the government for a guarantee that they won’t lose their homeownership rights after their homes get demolished.
