The head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK), Arben Kraja, stated that the former Deputy Minister of the Interior, Rovena Voda, was accused and sentenced by the court on corruption charges.
In an exclusive interview for Euronews Albania, Kraja said that the favors that Voda personally received as deputy minister are from her own decision-making and not that of the prosecution body.
“First, this is not the truth for which she was accused and sentenced by a final court decision. She has been accused of the criminal offense of corruption, and then the issue of what Ms. Vodo or someone else has illegally benefited from is her decision-making and not ours. We are a law enforcement body and when we find a criminal offense, we are definitely obliged to prosecute and demand the punishment of the guilty. As far as I remember, Mrs. Voda was not arrested under the security measure “Arrest with prison”, so in proportion to what she did, the court decided the punishment and she is guilty, I don’t want to repeat myself. We have been very correct in the announcements we have made and our announcements are related to what she was accused of and what she was ultimately sentenced for”, he emphasized.
