The head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK), Arben Kraja, was asked during an exclusive interview on Euronews Albania, whether former Prime Minister Sali Berisha will be questioned about the Partizani and Gerdec complex.
Kraja said that what will be done with Berisha is something that belongs to the prosecutors of the case. Among other things, he added that both cases are still under investigation.
“The matter is under investigation, I have stated it on several other occasions as well. All necessary actions are being taken to clarify what happened. In the end, there is no doubt that the evidence will be analyzed, and whoever will be responsible will answer. The case of Gerdec is an old case, which has been investigated and judged, there is a final decision by the Court of Tirana, which was also passed on to the Appeal. Meanwhile, the part belonging to Mr. Mediu was pending in the Supreme Court, due to immunity. There has been a long legal battle between SPAK and lawyers, regarding whether or not this case should be reopened. The case went all the way to the Constitutional Court, which said yes, the investigations should continue. Therefore the matter is still under investigation. What will be done is a matter that only the prosecutors of the case know”, emphasized Kraja.
