The acting Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic, said during his speed at today’s Open Balkan summit in Belgrade, that the time has come for the countries in the Balkan region to seriously cooperate with one another.
He said that he sees Open Balkan as a successful initiative while emphasizing that the time has come to opt for peace and progress in the region.
“The Western Balkans – through the Open Balkan initiative – are in need of a new progressive policy. The only thing we haven’t tried is to cooperate. The time has come to choose peace and progress; it’s time to understand that flexibility of borders does not mean a change of borders, but rather, it’s a greater opportunity for reconciliation for business and for progress, for mobility and everything should be seen as a network of the European spirit in the region. I see this initiative as a success. It has shown that it can do things that are essential for our citizens. ” – he said.
In addition, Abazovic argued that countries in the region should keep communication channels open and work in mutual cooperation for their citizens.
“We have to offer our citizens something different. They are fed up with the constant accusations and the ‘same old blame game’. ” – he argued.
