The U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken has written a letter to Serbian president Alexandar Vucic, where he urged for mutual recognition between Serbia-Kosovo.

In the letter, Blinken said that the mutual recognition between both countries is an integral step for Serbia’s European integration.

“We are happy to commemorate 140 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and Serbia. Our two nations have a shared history steeped in friendship and deep cultural ties. We look forward to building an even stronger partnership over the next 140 years” – wrote Blinken.

In addition, Gazeta Express reports that in his letter, Blinken wrote that the US encourages Serbia in reaching an agreement with Kosovo centered on mutual recognition. Blinken said that such an agreement will foster greater security and stability in the region. “We are committed to supporting Serbia’s goal of European integration, and we encourage comprehensive normalization of relations centered on mutual recognition with Kosovo, which will foster greater security and stability in the region,” Blinken wrote in his letter congratulating Serbia’s National Day.

It’s worth mentioning that several months ago, US president Joe Biden sent another letter to his Serbian homolog, where he asked the country to recognize Kosovo’s independence.
