President Ilir Meta began consulting with representatives from the political parties that have agreed to participate in the country’s special municipal elections.
His first meeting today will be with the head of SP’s parliamentary group, Taulant Balla.
According to the general rule, the party’s Secretary-General should have been present as well, but the person currently holding this function – Damian Gjiknuri – wasn’t presented with a formal invitation by Meta.
Mr. Balla was invited instead.
The following are the municipalities that will be running in these special local elections:
- Vora;
- Dibra;
- Shkodra;
- Lushnja;
- Rrogozhina;
- Durrësi;
At the moment, these City Halls don’t have an acting mayor who was elected by the district residents, but rather they have been appointed by the current administration.
