SPAK has asked courts to sentence the former minister of interior Rovena Voda to 1.5 years in prison.
According to the Special Prosecution against Corruption, Voda is guilty on charges of ‘abuse of office’.
Factoring in summary conviction, the final recommendation is to sentence the ex-minister to 1 year in prison, in addition to taking away her right to practice her profession in public functions for the next 3 years.
The other two suspects involved in Voda’s case – Florida Beu and Majlinda Hasani – should be sentenced to 15 months, which would be converted to 10 months due to summary conviction, said SPAK.
According to the investigation’s case file, Voda benefited 1 000 euros, a cellphone, and some food items as bribes from 2 citizens, who were looking to employ Florida Beu as a specialist at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
