Turkish investments in our country have more than doubled in the past 8 years, reaching as much as €2.7 billion euros.

Turkey is the fourth largest trading partner in Albania, after the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy.

The sector mostly dominated by Turkish investors includes banks, heavy industry that includes steel mining and processing, construction and the energy sector.

One of the biggest Turkish companies in Albania is the National Bank of Commerce (BKT), which was the company bringing in the greatest turnover in 2022, precisely 9.5 billion ALL.

Several other companies set up by Turkish investors in Albania include Albtelecom and Kurum. At the moment, there is a total of 600 Turkish companies operating in our country, which employ around 15.000 Albanian citizens.

The Turkish government is currently wrapping up the construction of 524 apartment buildings in the city of Lac, which was heavily hit by the tragic 2019 earthquake that took the lives of 51 citizens.

Another project funded by the Turkish Religious Headship is the Namazgja Mosque in Tirana.

On the political level, PM Rama’s relationship with president Erdogan is particularly close compared to other world leaders.

This was evident when President Erdogan intervened in the middle of our electoral campaign for the general elections, by promising to build the memorial hospital in Fier. He promised that construction work would be complete before the elections, thus openly proclaiming his approval of PM Rama.
