At today’s meeting, the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti, received the EU’s special envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, together with the advisors of the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, Jens Plotner and Emmanuel Bonne.
According to an announcement issued by the Prime Minister at this meeting, the head of the government of Kosovo emphasized that the goal of the dialogue between the two countries should be to reach a binding agreement on mutual recognition.
“Prime Minister Kurti reiterated that the goal of the dialogue, from which the citizens of both countries should benefit, should be the achievement of a legally binding agreement with mutual recognition at its core. He thanked Mr. Lajcak, as well as the advisers Mr. Plötner and Mr. Bonne, for their commitment to the full normalization of relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia”, the announcement of the Prime Minister stated.
The meeting comes after the proposal in a joint letter of Chancellor Scholz and President Macron, addressed to Prime Minister Kurti, that the advisors make a joint visit with Miroslav Lajcak, in Kosovo and Serbia, in order to find options, so that the dialogue process can move forward quicker.
